The User-Agent Switcher is a tiny browser extension to easily change the default User Agent string of the browser. It supports Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and should work fine with other Chromium-based browsers like Opera, Vivaldi, Brave etc. Install this extension from Chrome Store or Microsoft Edge Store.
This extension has few preset User-Agent strings like those of Firefox on Windows 10, Google Chrome on Android, Microsoft Edge, Safari on iPadOS, Google bot etc. Users can add a custom User-Agent string as well.

How To Use?
Once installed successfully, you would notice extension’s icon on the browser toolbar as shown in the above screenshot. Google Chrome users need to pin it on the toolbar first.
Click on this icon to change the User-Agent setting of your browser. The extension pop-up has options to select browser’s User-Agent string, and enter a custom User-Agent string, as shown in the above screenshot.
To add and use a custom User-Agent string, enter your desired string in the input box and click on the save button. Now, select the option “My Custom User-Agent” in the drop-down menu.

To check and verify your User-Agent string setting, visit our tools page which also shows your public IP address, Do-Not-Track setting, Save-Data client hint request header setting and prefer: safe HTTP header settings.
Available User-Agent Strings
The following user-agent strings are available with this extension. Moreover, users can also add one custom user-agent string.
- Firefox on Windows 10
- Chrome on Android 12

Please add the user-agent of internal browser built-in the VS Code code editor
`Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 10.0; Win64; x64) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Code/1.74.3 Chrome/102.0.5005.167 Electron/19.1.8 Safari/537.36`
This built-in browser of VS Code can be accessed by using the command “Simple Browser: Show”.
DuckDuckGo Android Browser User-Agent:

Please add to the list. Thanks
when manifest v3 update will come?
Add the OLDEST version of chrome, I want to see older versions! 🙂
Get it from here: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1bm8VqdOExylPxP3dbFqduGuwr6xAM_hN
I wasn’t clear enough…but when I said I couldn’t download from the Chrome Store, I meant I couldn’t download anything. I get the “download interrupted” error everytime. Even for the Chrome Extension Source Viewer that you linked to. I’ve tried fixes for that problem but nothing has worked so far. So a manual download of the extension file is my only hope.
You can download this extension (and hence, almost all extensions) from Chrome Web Store using this awesome extension https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/chrome-extension-source-v/jifpbeccnghkjeaalbbjmodiffmgedin
Feel free to download, modify and use as per your requirement.
Since the Chrome Web Store will not work for me (“download interrupted” error…every time I’ve tried, many many attempts), could you supply a link to the actual unpacked extension file so I can install it manually. Thanks
I love this extension, kudos!
Can you please add:
1. different icon color when some user agent different than default is being used
2. an option to revert to default once the browser is closed and launched again
Can’t use it in Vivaldi to download MS Office 365.
can you add an xbox aswell i really need it!
How to change user agent on Android? Does this extension work on Chrome Android version?
working as expected. if you can get this to work for individual tab instead for all tabs, this can be very good.
@Paul B: Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve added it in the latest version. 👍
please add user agent of Amazon Kindle reader’s experimental browser. It is very minimal browser built-in the Kindle reader devices.
You should consider changing the User-Agent Switcher icon or at least allow options for different icons to choose. I’m using Edge in Dark Mode and the extension icon is VERY difficult to see. Perhaps a Dark Mode and a Light Mode version would be beneficial.
@Moe: You can add & use it as the custom user agent option provided with the extension.
Could you please add user agent of Opera Mini? It was a very popular mobile browser till recent past. Here is the user agent string of Opera Mini:
Opera/9.80 (Android; Opera Mini/22.0.2254/60.271; U; en) Presto/2.12.423 Version/12.16
I love it! It works perfectly without fail!, plus when I clicked to verify it was working it turned me on to the privacy extension!
In the example above for the pop-up window, I had to hit the Settings (gear) button to get the window. There was no icon on my Edge browser toolbar.
@Crane: I guess you are confused with some other extension or tool. This application is a browser extension, and doesn’t require WinZip etc. It installs directly in your browser without requiring any other utility.
sorry but seems to be a confusing set up
(1) is winzip actually
required to use or operate this addon extension !
(2) if so is there any charge for winzip initially or ongoing if it is required !
(3) article seems to suggest a simple download to place addon app on the edge browser, then wants to update all drivers why !
(4) is wording “my poor user agent” actually supposed to be entered in the user agent string box outlined, or an example just so the app is recognisable to the user. I appreciate your reply comments, Thanks
this is the only extension that really works
chromebook user agent string? please add it to the list. I’m using the following :
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; CrOS x86_64 12499.20.0) AppleWebKit/537.36 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/83.0.4103.61 Safari/537.36
good extension. I like it for its simplicity and to-the-point approach.
I have just one request: add more pre set strings like Safari on iPhone and more like it.
does not work at all in vivaldi with the chrome spoof
it works!!
Hmmm…. i just installed and did not work at all. Does it really works in Windows 10?
Works!
Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks Arpit,
