As you know, Chromebooks don’t support classic printers. For printing on a ChromeOS device, you need to connect it to a web-enabled printer or use the ‘Google Cloud Print‘ service which allows users to print using a classic printer. For GCP, the classic printer must be connected to a separate Windows or Mac computer.

In short, the HP 1200w accessory easily converts your classic printer to a web-enabled printer. The following video demonstrates its setup and working:

Once completed the above installation, you can add your printer to GCP and start printing from any compatible mobile device or Chromebook. Watch this video for GCP setup process:

Apparently, the NFC printing support on HP 1200w is limited to HP devices only, so must verify compatibility with your device before purchasing.

Buy the HP 1200w NFC/Wireless Mobile Print Accessory from Amazon ($110) or from HP Store ($49).

Print and scan from the HP 6600 or similar OfficeJet with embedded web server (EWS) enabled. Price of ink is extortionate – ensure print black only, not grey, and forces you to keep ink in the colour cartridges :( However – the EWS and Googleprint, together with WiFi, enable printing and scanning. Look for EWS on the case.
