DuckDuckGo Chrome Extension

The DuckDuckGo Search – Context Menu and Omnibox is a tiny extension for Google Chrome and other supported Chromium-based browsers. It enables users to easily search any text phrase using the privacy-friendly search engine DuckDuckGo. Install it from this link.

How To Use?

This extension has two features: context menu option and omnibox keyword. It adds an option in the context menu (right-click menu). Highlight text on any web page, and right click on it. This should pop a context menu as shown in the following screenshot. Select the Option Search DDG to search the highlighted text on DuckDuckGo.

Hence, you don’t need to copy and paste text to search on DuckDuckGo. Just select text, make a right click on it, and search directly. The search engine result page would load in a new tab.

Second feature of this extension is its ddg omnibox keyword. Type ddg <space> in the address bar (omnibox) of Chrome, and then type in any search query. Now hit the Enter key, which should take you the DuckDuckGo.com search result page for that query.

This handy feature enables users to easily search on DuckDuckGo right from the address bar, and without changing the default search engine of browser.

Privacy Friendly Extension

DuckDuckGo is known for being a privacy-friendly search engine. Unlike other popular search engines, it doesn’t track or log your search queries or other data. Following the same philosophy, our DuckDuckGo Search – Context Menu and Omnibox extension doesn’t ask for any user permission like access to browsing data or browsing history.

It doesn’t track users in any possible way. So, install and use it without any privacy concern. The DDG also offers an official extension for Google Chrome browser, but that doesn’t have the context menu option or the omnibox keyword feature. So, we created this tiny extension for the users who prefer to search using the context menu option.

We hope that this extension would be quite useful for the users of DuckDuckGo. If you like it, please rate it 5-stars on Chrome Web Store. Have any feedback or suggestion? Leave a comment below, or mail us at browsernative.apps@gmail.com.
