Missing a startup tune on your Chromebook or other Chrome OS device? Install our Startup Sound extension from the Chrome Web Store, and enjoy the startup sound every time you boot your Chrome OS devices like Chromebook, Chromebit, Chromebase or Chromebox.
By default, this extension plays the startup tune of Ubuntu on every boot. You can change this setting, and choose from the startup sounds of macOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows XP, and Windows 7. To set your preference, click on its icon on the toolbar. This icon is active only on supported devices, i.e., devices running on Chrome OS. This extension is not supported on other operating systems (Windows, macOS, and Linux), so the toolbar icon is grayed out on these platforms.
To change the default startup sound, click on the toolbar icon, which should launch the options page. Here you can change the startup sound, as shown in the following screenshot. You can also listen these tunes before deciding.

Did you know that Ubuntu’s boot sound, which was developed for Macs for PowerPC in the past, is different from the built-in Ubuntu sound? I want the boot sound for that version! very eagerly!

This is a great app. There should be a shutdown one too!
Some things you could add are:
-The Windows NT 4.0, NT 5.0, Windows Vista, Windows 95, and Windows 7 sounds.
-You could add your own short songs

Could you develop an app to take a snippet of a song such as “Hail to the Victors!” and use it as the start up sound for a chromebook or laptop. I would buy it and market it to my alumni group. I don’t see that available anywhere…yet. 🙂
