Chromebooks Powered by Rockchip RK3288 Quad-core ARM Cortex-A17 Processor

Google recently announced a new breed of Chromebooks and other Chrome OS devices (Asus Chromebook Flip and Asus Chromebit). Many new OEMs like Haier, Hisense, XOLO, Nexian and TRUE have joined Google to bring much cheaper Chrome OS laptops. These Chromebooks would be powered by ARM Cortex-A17 based Rockchip RK3288 Quad-core processor – which is known for its power efficiency.

The Haier Chromebook 11 and Hisense Chromebook are already available on online stores for just $149. XOLO Chromebook and Nexian Air Chromebook CB-116 are specifically launched in India for Rs 13,000.

Other existing Chromebook OEMs would also be releasing Rockchip RK3288 powered devices. Asus has already announced two, Asus Chromebook Flip and Asus Chromebit. The Chromebook Flip would be convertible touchscreen device with 2GB RAM and 10.1″ IPS screen. It would cost $249. On the other hand, the Asus Chromebit is pretty exciting. It is a Chromecast sized full computer pluggable to any HDMI supported display, and would cost less than $100. Wow!
